Formed in 1824 Spencer County, named for Capt. Spier Spencer, is located at KY 44, 55. The County elevation ranges from 420 to 880 feet above sea level. The county population was 16,475 in 2006. The land area is approximately 185.90 square miles with an average per square mile of 63.3 people. The county seat of Spencer County is Taylorsville.
