Louisville (often pronounced "Looavul") is located on the Ohio River at the Falls of the Ohio. Here is a quick history of Louisville: In 1778 Col. George Rogers Clark guided 80 settlers and 150 soldiers down the Ohio River and ran into The Falls of the Ohio, which is a series of rapids neighboring what is now the Indiana shore. Col. Clark left the majority of the settles in downtown Louisville, which was at that time called Corn Island. They then headed down the river to thump the British and provide the whole N.W. Territory to the U.S. Nearly one year later the settlers paddled over to the Kentucky shore and invented Louisville. When you visit the Belvedere in downtown Louisville be sure to check out where Corn Island once was.

You will find there is plenty to do in our great Derby City. While we don’t have the Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty, we are home to Churchill Downs, Muhammad Ali Center and Louisville Slugger Museum. The Louisville Zoo is awesome-my personal favorite is the gorilla exhibit. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom is also great family fun. You will enjoy Kentucky Kingdom’s Hurricane Bay-a fun time to cool off with the wonderful water attractions.

We have started to create parks and nature preserves that will circle the entire Louisville city which includes almost 100 miles of bike routes and/or walkways.

Louisville has great diversity in housing type, price and geographic distribution. You have your choice of an older charming home, possibly with squeaky floors, or a newer home with all of today’s comforts. We have great neighborhoods with funky shops, boutiques, art galleries and yummy restaurants.

With a population of nearly 700,000, Louisville is a very friendly community. Please know that we would be very happy to have you join us in our proud Derby City.  To search for real estate in Louisville click here.

The map above is only approximate in showing the Louisville boundaries. Louisville Metro completely surrounds much of more than ninety, primarily urban, unincorporated cities.
